The best approach is after you call the company to cancel the membership (and whether or not they give you a hard time) call your bank/credit card company and ask them to close the card and issue a card with a new account number. If the original company does not refund your money dispute the charge with the card issuer WITHIN 60 DAYS. After investigating, the card issuer may very well refund your money and make a chargeback against the original company. The card issuer will only do this for charges within the previous 60 days. The bank/credit card company will transfer all your information from the old account to the new account. Everything usually remains the same, except the fraudster will no longer have your card info to make charges. You will have to contact companies you have auto payments set up with and give them the new card info. But in my opinion this is a small price to pay to keep these companies from transferring your card info to related and non-related companies. The next thing you know you have magazine subscriptions, personal care products, other "shopping memberships" and God knows what charged to your account. The charges can add up to hundreds of dollars and you are never assured of getting all your money back. In any case, it will probably involve a lot of time spent talking with a bunch of people who don't have a clue.

Please cancel my membership for Shopper's Advantage. The toll free number that was given to me is not a working number, and the other two numbers on the Shopper's Advantage Web Page do not work, either. I do not want the subscription. I do not want any money taken out of my bank account. Please, contact me by email confirming that the membership has been canceled. Today's date is May 19, 2014. The package that was promised to me was never delivered, therefore, I would like my initial $1.99 refunded also. Thank you.
